Alejandro Tamayo

Alejandro is a colombian-canadian artist-engineer based in Colombia. His hybrid practice comprises electronic art, public intervention, digital photography and installation.

Originally trained as an engineer at Universidad EAFIT (Medellín) (1996), he later pursued graduate studies in digital technologies at the Department of Design and Computation Arts from Concordia University (Montreal) (2003). He has been teaching at the Aesthetics Department from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá) since 2004. Alejandro created and currently directs V*i*d*a Lab, a six month program for industrial designers that explores the poetic role of electronic and digital technologies in the everyday life.
